Acceptable Use Policy

Inter.Net.Works is your gateway to the Internet. You can browse the World Wide Web, send email to friends and family, advertise on the net, participate in online discussion, create web pages to let others know who you are, keep up-to-date on news, and find just about anything you ever wanted to know (and a whole lot more!).

However, there are some things that you cannot do with your account. The guidelines for acceptable use, are defined in our "acceptable use policy" and are for everyone's protection - ours, yours, and in some cases, other users on the Internet. The AUP describes activities that constitute unacceptable use of our internet services, and outlines actions that may be taken in the event of a violation, including termination of service. As subscribers to our service, we expect your online activity to be guided by acceptable standards of  behavior not just in the AUP, but as understood from the wider internet community. We hope you will consider our AUP seriously, because our ability to provide internet services depends on your responsible use of the internet. Although we reserve the right to do so when necessary or appropriate, we do not monitor customers' usage of our internet services to ensure compliance with law or this AUP. We will look into possible violations when information that is sufficient to warrant an investigation, is brought to our attention.

We will make every effort to protect the members of our community from unacceptable internet behaviour. If you have been the target of activity which contravenes with our acceptable use policy, please do not hesitate to report the event. Similarly, you should know that you assume full responsibility for all use of our internet services via your account. If any user of your account is suspected of violating this AUP, we will alert you of this activity, and conduct an investigation. We may, when appropriate, place your account on suspension pending the results of an investigation and cooperate with law enforcement if a criminal action is suspected. We also reserve the right to withdraw your internet service without prior notice.

Here are the things you MAY NOT DO with your Inter.Net.Works account:

In addition to use of internet services for any illegal purposes (some of which are described below), the AUP also defines other areas of unacceptable use. We strongly advise you to review these guidelines because your use of our service constitutes acceptance of this AUP

• Standard accounts are allowed one logon. You may not, for example, give your password to a friend so they can use your account at the same time as you. Another example is using two lines at once - downloading files on one line while reading news on another. We are budgeting for one logon per account and we think it's fair to ask you to respect that.
• You must not disclose your access password to a third party, either for the purpose of reselling our internet services, or to otherwise facilitate unauthorized access.
• You should not use our network resources in excess of any prescribed limits on bandwidth or access time. For example, it is unfair to other users to stay logged on to our internet services when you are not actively using your account unless you have a dedicated account with us. Repeated second logon requests from your account constitutes abuse and can result in suspension of your service.
• If you obtain, or attempt to obtain, unauthorized access to, monitor, or use any data, systems, or networks without the express permission of the owner, you are guilty of "hacking" as defined in our terms and conditions of service. Such action strictly contravenes with our acceptable use policy and will result in the immediate retraction of service.
• Similarly, any attempt to gain unauthorized access to or tamper with any part of our network, any other network, or any effort to gain access into other users' accounts, either on our network or on other networks will result in an immediate withdrawal of service. This includes trying to gain privileged or unauthorized access on any machine, or sending malicious programs to any user on the network.
• You cannot send unsolicited bulk e-mails, harvest e-mail addresses for the purpose of sending mass advertising, or otherwise engage in spamming.
• You must not engage in mailbombing or otherwise interfere with or disrupt other network users, network services or network equipment (e.g., by transmitting a virus).
• You cannot cancel or alter any postings or messages other than your own, except for postings in your name that have been forged.
• You must not willfully add, remove or modify identifying network header information ("spoofing") in an effort to deceive or mislead, or any attempt to impersonate any person by using forged headers or other identifying information. If you do this, you may be guilty of fraud. You are also responsible for ensuring that your system is free of any viruses that might do this.
• You cannot relay mail via another site's mail server without the permission of that site.
• If you post, distribute or disseminate another's intellectual property or proprietary information, including trade secrets, internet technologies or software, without express authorization of the rights holder, you may be subject to civil legal action. You cannot use our internet service to distribute information for the purpose of profit or otherwise, which infringes the copyrights of others or without due credit to the rights holder.
• You must not publish to your personal web site or post to any list, hosted by Inter.Net.Works any material that is obscene, vulgar, demoral, threatens bodily harm, advocates destruction of property, is defamatory, constitutes harassment, or that might be defined as pornography, or that in way violates the laws of Guyana.

Our acceptable use policy is periodically reviewed. We reserve the right to amend these guidelines but as rule, any policy changes are announced. You can find the latest version of the AUP by sending email to info-aup@networksgy.com. We also provide an outline of the core rules within our user configuration guide. If your beleive that there has been a violation of this AUP, please contact us at abuse@networksgy.com and provide if possible, the following information:

• the nature of the alleged violation, along with any supporting evidence;
• the date and time of the alleged violation, including the time zone; and
• the IP address used to commit the alleged violation.

When a violation of this AUP is found, we retain full discretion to determine the appropriate response in the circumstances, including any one or more of the following actions:

• issue a warning to the user;
• remove any postings that violate this AUP;
• suspend the users posting privileges;
• suspend the customer's account;
• terminate the customer's account; and
• apply administrative costs and/or reactivation charges to the customer's account.

As set forth in our Privacy Policy, we do not disclose any customer-specific information to third parties without the consent of the customer. However, such disclosure may be necessary to investigate alleged violations of this AUP, protect our rights or property, and may also be compelled by civil legal process. Disclosure to authorized governmental authorities may also be necessary and will be undertaken only as prescribed by applicable law.
