Dial up Script
The dialup script automates your dialup access and can store your password and username. This will free you from typing each time you log in. The scripting tool is embedded into windows 95 and will appear under the dialer. However, if you have an earlier release of Windows 95, you will need to install the scripting tool before you begin.
Windows 98 and Windows 95 OSR2
Download the file iworks.scp into c:\program files\accessories on your hard drive. If you have already setup your internet works dialer, you can now configure it to automatically input your username and password. First, launch the dialup networking window. Go start, programs, accessories, dialup networking. Now, select the inter.net.works icon, right click and enter properties. The last option reads scripting. From here, choose browse and select the file called iworks.scp. Remember the post dial up screen ( the 'black screen") may still be set to pop up after dialing in. You will now need to disable it. Inside the internetworks dialer, choose general, then configure your modem. Under options, uncheck the tag for bring up terminal window after dialing. Choose ok to save your changes. Now you're ready for automated dialing. You must fill in the password and username on the Connect to internetworks screen instead of the post dial up screen.
PreOSR2 Windows 95
If you you do not have a scripting option, then download dscript.zip to your hard drive. You will need Winzip to unzip the files. To install the scripting tool, go to add/remove programs in the control panel, and choose windows setup. Now hit on have disk, and browse to the dscipt folder that is created when dscript.zip is expanded. Choose ok. This should give you an option for the dial up scripting tool which you must select. Now hit install. Once the scripting tool is installed, it will appear in program files under accessories. You will also see your internetworks dialer appear in the list of dialers on your machine. Inside the scripting tool highlight internetworks, then hit on properties. Under options, make sure that bring up terminal window after dialing is unchecked. Now hit browse and point the scripting tool to a file called iworks.scp. You say ok to save changes. Now the dialup is automated.
The scripting tool works differently depending on the type of modem. If your scripter does not work reliably, it is probably due to unusual modem performance or line noise in your telephone system. In this case, you may need to revert to the post dial up screen. For further questions on the script, you can e-mail us for technical support.
