17 December, 2008 - 5:52 P.M - GT&Ts has revised their current block on VoIP calls. Well established VoIPs services such as Net2phone and Mediaring are now allowed on dial up networks. These services remain blocked on DSL broadband. The current network policy has been reverted to a pre-December 2nd state. We expect all previously blocked applications to be fully functional on dial up networks. An updated advisory will be posted after all well known applications have been tested.
04 December, 2008 - 5:02 P.M - GT&Ts current block on VOIP calls has not been revised. Our technical department has successfully tested some mainstream PC to PC applications including yahoo messenger, msn messenger and skype, which are not included on the GT&T's blocked list. These applications are working. Well established PC to phone applications such as Net2phone and Mediaring remain blocked and do not work.
03 December, 2008 - 11:58 A.M - GT&T has advised that the current network policy on VOIP calls is similar to the current policy for DSL. All VOIP applications are explicitly blocked. Peer-to-peer messenger services are not explicitly blocked. Blocked services are disallowed intransit when the traffic traverses GT&T's data platform. At this time, we are trying to secure more details from GT&T on the motivation for the current policy on VOIP calls and whether the policy might be rescinded.
02 December, 2008 - 06:12 P.M - GT&T has advised that the network policy on VOIP calls should not affect peer-to-peer messenger applications. The policy is intended to disallow calls to international numbers.
02 December, 2008 - 04:45 P.M. - GT&T has blocked all VOIP traffic on their network as of 15:00hrs today. We have been advised that the network policy was implemented based on a GRA policy on lost revenue from VOIP calls. We wish to assure our customers that every effort is being made to keep our network up. However, if the rain and flooding continues, utility power and telephone service may be affected and as an absolute last resort, it may be necessary to shutdown our network core. We hope that we do not have to exercise this option and sincerely regret the implications of this sort of measure. If this does become necessary, it may be difficult to make this information available and we will rely on the public media to advise our customers. 25 Sept, 2003 - 11:30 A.M An issue just developed within GT&T's backbone which has affected internet access. We will posting details when they become available.
28 Aug, 2003 - 9:40 P.M - Our network sensors have been reporting a heightened instance of abnormal traffic from customers infected with the Nachi worm. Our virus daemon has also trapped continued code from the Sobig worm. We recommend all customers using windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 to keep their antivirus definitions current. These windows are particularly vulnerable to infection because a published flaw in their design. Microsoft has listed the required patch for RPC as critical. We recommend customer with Windows 2000 upgrade to the latest service pack (SP4). Windows XP users should apply service pack 2 for XP (SP2). Please note the RPC patch is NOT included with these service packs and must be installed separately. We also recommend firewall protection for all versions of windows used on the internet. This is only way to actively protect your machine from unwanted activity. Symantec's Norton internet security, Aginatum's Outpost or Zone Labs Zone Alarm are recommended. Please contact our support channel directly for telephone assistance on these viruses.
20 Aug, 2003 - 6:54 P.M - We have been forced to temporarily suspend messaging access from several domains including public portals because of intense traffic generated by the Sobig worm from those sources. This is a temporary measure to ensure that our network is not flooded with messages and will be removed when reported cases of infection are brought under control.

23 Jun, 2003 - 8:16 A.M - We have secured additional satellite bandwidth. Our network is currently at 80% of its capability.
20 Jun, 2003 - 9:13 A.M - GT&T's circuits are currently affected by packet loss. A problem developed this morning around 7:50 AM. This has severely affected response time for requests to the internet. At the moment, their engeering team is trying to resolve this issue.

However in keeping with our commitment to our customers, we have successfully implemented 100% satellite redundancy. This satellite redundancy will be in place till the full restoration of the Americas II fiber optics link.
04 January,2002 - 11:47 A.M. There are as yet no official estimate for the full restoration of service. However, GT&T has advised us that the Americas II cable may not be returned to operational condition before the end of January, 2002. In the interim, Inter.Net.Works has made a decision to secure additional satellite redundancy at the premium cost until this service is fully restored.
